Terms & Conditions

1. Payment

We require a 20% booking deposit upon confirmation of your order. The remaining balance must be paid at least 14 days before delivery. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of your order and the loss of your deposit. 

2. Breakages Deposit 

A refundable deposit of 50% of order value is also required to cover any breakages, and this will be returned to the hirer when the items have been returned and checked. 

3. Cancellation 

An order may be cancelled up to 30 days before the hire date without charge, but after that will result in loss of deposit. 

4. Breakages 

The hirer is responsible for the items until they are returned to us. All our vintage china is in good condition, and therefore any chips or cracks, however small, means the items can no longer be used for hire. Because they are vintage items, it may be impossible to replace them and therefore we have to charge for any loss or damage sustained. 

In the event of any loss or breakages, the following charges will be made: 

        A cup, saucer or tea plate – £3 per item 

        A large plate, milk jug or sugar bowl – £7 per item 

        A 2-tier cake stand – £15 

        Teapot – £25 

        Jam dish – £10 

        Sugar tongs or cake server – £3 

5. Washing Up 

Washing up is included in the hire charges. We only ask that you gently remove any food from the crockery and cutlery. Please do not use knives or other metal utensils to scrape the plates as this may cause damage. Warm water may be used if necessary. Under no circumstances should any of the crockery be placed in a dishwasher as this may cause extensive damage to vintage china. Any items damaged in this way will be charged for. 

6. The crockery is not suitable for use in a dishwasher, microwave or oven. 

7. We pride ourselves on hiring out the best quality items of vintage china. However, these items are old and have been used, so there will be some signs of wear. In particular, there may be loss of gilding to some items. 

8. All hire products will be carefully checked before delivery to ensure there are no chips or cracks. On taking delivery of the hire goods, we ask you to check that the order is complete and undamaged. If any items are missing or damaged, please contact us immediately. Failure to do so may result in the hirer being held responsible for any loss or damage. 

9. Delivery and Collection 

 We are able to deliver and collect hire goods at a charge of 40p per mile. You may choose Delivery only or Collection only. You are also welcome to collect and return hire goods yourself. 

10. Handling the Crockery 

When unpacking, setting up and packing away, please take care of the china, as many of the items are fragile. After unpacking the china, please ensure the crates are stored safely as all items must be returned in the storage crates. When repacking after the event, please replace items carefully in the correct crates. A piece of kitchen paper should be placed between each saucer or plate to minimise breakages during transport. 

11. Clearing Away Service 

The cost of clearing away and repacking all the crockery is available upon request at the time of placing the order. 

12. Country Crockery will accept no responsibility for any injury or damages caused by the hire products.
